Google launches search-based keyword tool
21/11/2008
Google has released a new tool to help people in search marketing to establish what keywords are most relevant to their site.
The Search-based Keyword Tool (beta) begins by examining a firm's web pages and then identifies keywords that potential customers are using to find their products and services.
It leverages search query data relevant to a website's content and, according to Google's Adwords blog, helps firms "take advantage of missed opportunities".
Trevor Claiborne, author of the blog post, said that the tool is a particularly useful for search engine optimisation professionals who do not currently advertise on Adwords.
The software is currently available in the UK and US but it will soon be widely available in a range of languages and countries.
Lisa Martinez of Promotion World recently said that firms which cannot afford pay-per-click ads can benefit from using keywords used in this form of advertising in their on-page content.
