Search marketing 'is effective for targeting consumers on a budget'

Search marketing can be an effective way of targeting consumers who are shopping online but limited to a tight budget, it has been suggested.

According to Tessa Wegert at Clickz.com, ecommerce firms may be able to increase the number of budget consumers who access their sites.

She noted that phrases such as "budget-friendly recipes" are being bought up by companies looking to target this market.

Ms Wegert said: "Employ both in a way that demonstrates your brand's understanding of the current environment, and give your customers something with the value they seek."

A survey conducted by Harris Interactive found that consumers are likely to cut their budgets during the difficult economic climate but could continue to spend if they are provided with discounts.

Promotion World advised search engine optimisation professionals to use keywords throughout their site and to ensure that the right ones are chosen.

They should also appear in the first sentence of the page because that is what appears in search engine results.
