Google pushes SEO possibilities

Google has announced that it is launching new voice-search capabilities for Google Mobile App on the iPhone - news that may be of interest to those involved in search engine optimisation (SEO).

The firm claims that the software opens new areas of possibility for SEO professionals.

Gummi Hafsteinsson, product manager for the Google Mobile team, explained in his official blog: "When you do local searches, Google Mobile App can now automatically use your location to make results more relevant to where you are."

Once the application is running on the handset, users say what they wish to search for and await the confirmation beep from the mobile phone.

According to Mark Jackson of Search Engine Watch, the future of online searches lies in personalised results.

This can be based on the geolocation of the user, which is established through the IP address of the computer on which the search is performed.
