Google launches on demand indexing
17/11/2008
Google launched a new on demand site indexing feature for Google Site Search last week.
In news that may be of interest to search marketing companies, this feature enables businesses to incorporate new pages and site updates into search results on their websites.
The company claims that firms will now have the "flexibility to share news, product releases and promotions" as they happen.
It has recently been used by Adobe to keep their online Adobe Community Help up-to-date.
Tanya Wendling, senior director for Learning Resources at Adobe, said: "On demand Indexing was essential for our recent launch of Adobe Creative Suite 4, the biggest software release in the company's history."
She added that Site Search made it simpler to implement search across the firm's Creative Suite product line and Adobe's online sites.
In related news, search startup Lijit conducted a study of the "widget-o-sphere" and found that 45 per cent of search widgets were its own and 47 were from Google, reports ReadWriteWeb.com.
