SEO beginner's guide launched by Google
14/11/2008
Google has launched a beginner's guide to search engine optimisation (SEO) to help companies create successful search marketing campaigns.
According to Google's Webmaster Central Blog, one of the common questions asked at conferences is "what are some simple ways that I can improve my websites performance in Google?"
This prompted the search engine to release a start-up guide for those new to the SEO industry.
Among the tips provided by the firm is advice on good practice for page-title tags.
Google advises companies to ensure that tags accurately describe the pages content and that each page has a unique title, which is brief but descriptive.
In addition, the company says that URLs should contain words relevant to a site's content, but excessive use of keywords should be avoided.
PJ Fusco said in article on Clickz.com that businesses should ensure that keywords throughout a website are consistent with the content and that they target popular phrases used in search engine queries.
