One-third of people 'prefer white backgrounds with black text'

In news that may be of interest to those involved in web design, recent research has revealed that one-third of people prefer websites with white background and black text.
According to the report, entitled Colour Preferences in Web Design and conducted by EDSF, 40 per cent of men prefer web pages with this simple design.
It revealed that 27 per cent of women prefer websites to feature a basic white background with black text and blue text.
Companies revamping their web design may also wish to take into account the difference between older web users and young ones.
Older people prefer while or light backgrounds with dark text but the opposite was true for the younger generation.
According to Al Matinovic at 2CreateAWebsite.com, colours are important when designing a web page as they lead to different reactions in people.
For example, red is associated with love, passion, danger, warnings and excitement, whereas blue represents trustworthiness, success, seriousness, calmness and power.
