Beta of DeepDyve released
12/11/2008
An early beta of newly rebranded research engine DeepDyve has been released to consumers.
Previously called Infovell, the search engine is reported to be able to access the "Deep Web" - some 99 per cent of the internet which is not accessed by search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
Those involved in search marketing or search engine optimisation may wish to test out the new engine and the company has put it on the internet to be used for free.
Users who are impressed by the product will be able to sign up for DeepDyve Pro, a premium service available on a subscription basis.
William Park, chief executive officer of DeepDyve, said: "DeepDyve gives information-savvy consumers unparalleled access to quality information found only in the Deep Web, with features and functionality that make it easy to find, filter and organise their results."
In other search engine news, Yahoo may be able to secure a deal with Microsoft after market leaders Google walked away.
