B2B online advertising spend 'expected to grow'

A recent report has suggested that the amount spent online on business-to-business (B2B) services will exceed $1 trillion by 2012.

According to the study by BuddeComm, online advertising spending will continue to grow throughout the next few years.

However, it is thought that in the wake of the economic downturn, the rate of expansion may slow.

BuddeComm suggested that online advertising could soon account for around 20 per cent of all advertising spend in some markets.

Among the strategies used in online marketing are email campaigns, pay-per-click adverts and search engine optimisation.

In the run-up to Christmas, spending by consumers online is set to grow by 15 per cent on a year-on year basis in the UK.

IMRG and Capegmini announced their predictions for the sales figures in this period earlier this week and predicted that Monday December 8th will be the biggest online Christmas shopping day.

British shoppers are expected to pay £13.16 billion during the holiday period, a figure which equates to £215 per person.
