Keyword inflation 'will continue to grow in 2009'

10/11/2008

Recent research has prompted experts to predict a continued interest in keyword inflation in 2009.

Creative digital marketing firm Strange has released a report entitled Online Marketing Trends in 2009, which claims that the current economic climate might encourage firms to optimise conversion rates and put a greater emphasis on qualitative analytics.

Strange suggested that there will be increasing levels of negotiation over cost per action advertising, such as pay per click ads.

The findings of the study prompted Paul Honey, managing director of Strange, to say "2009 is going to be an interesting year".

Promotion World recently released a list of keyword practices that can have a detrimental effect on a business.

The selection of keywords without competition could prove to be an error because it means that no one is searching online using those terms.

Conversely, opting for ones that are too popular could mean companies are setting themselves up to compete with other sites that are already well established.
