Trying to get listed on Google? Send out a press release

04/11/2008

Companies looking to improve their search engine rankings should start their campaign by sending out a press release to companies already listed by Google, it has been suggested.

Experts at PromotionWorld.com said that, contrary to popular opinion, it is not necessary to submit a site to Google, only to be linked to a site that is.

Consequently, sending a press release with a link to the company's website can get a site ranked by Google.

Esther Kane, writing at PromotionWorld.com commented: "That usually means a website that is already on Google's index. Of course, in your article or press release you want to add a link to your website." ?

She added that it usually takes between three to eight months to get listed and ranked on Google.

Ewan Wyatt, an expert in search engine optimisation, told the Daily Telegraph that there is a huge difference between being ranked in tenth and first place.

He noted that a tenth place position on Google often gets only one per cent of the total traffic.
