Spending on internet advertising 'will grow'
28/10/2008
Spending on online advertising is likely to continue to grow over the next year, it has been claimed.
The latest projections by eMarketer predicts that online advertising, such as pay per click systems and search marketing will grow from $24.5 billion (£15.7 billion) to $28.5 billion between 2008 and 2009.
This is based in part on the quarterly reports released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau, which uses Pricewaterhouse Coopers to do its surveys.
According to eMarketer, advertising on the internet allows companies to target specific consumers, which may be a cost-effective option during the current financial crisis.
The internet also takes up a larger share of total media time among younger markets, with some studies showing that teens often spent more time online than they do in front of the television.
In addition, focusing on ecommerce rather than traditional high street shops can help firms to save money on high street rental costs and help consumers avoid driving to their shopping destination.
According to HostReview.com, it is better for firms to spend a little more on their ecommerce web hosting company to ensure that it is high quality and operates effectively.
