Yahoo broadens Inquisitor's availability

24/10/2008

In news that may interest those involved in search engine optimisation, the second largest search engine is now making its browser plugin Inquisitor available for a larger number of browsers.

Yahoo announced that users who surf the internet using Firefox and Internet Explorer will now be able to install the software.

Previously Inquisitor was the only solid third party search browser available for Safari.

This is because it was acquired by Yahoo in May and then released an upgraded version three months later.

It is now available for those running Firefox 2 or 3 or Internet Explorer 7 or above.

When the programme is used, it automatically crawls for results using Yahoo Search, but it can be changed to Google in the preferences.

In other news that may be of interest to those in search marketing, Google has been blocked from making a deal with a Russian engine Rambler Media by the country's Federal Anti-monopoly Service.
