An expert in the online media sector has stated that blogging is changing in its use and purpose on the industry.
Rachel Hawkes of The Social Media Portal noted that brands should consider blogs an important aspect of their online presence.
Consequently it may be advisable to include a blog into the web design of the homepage.
As well as having search engine optimisation advantages, a blog can also be "a tool for brands to communicate with their audience, rather than too the audience".
She went on to say that blogs also enable clients to provide feedback on how products or services "are meeting their needs".
In Technorati's State of the Blogosphere 2008 report published in September found that collectively, bloggers are creating one million posts each day.
It also discovered that bloggers use five techniques to drive traffic to their site; listing blogs on Google or Technorati, linking to other blogs, participating in a blogroll, tagging blog posts or linking to other blogs.
