SEO is 'top internet marketing tactic during recession'
16/10/2008
A recent poll revealed that search engine optimisation (SEO) is the most popular form of internet advertising during the current financial problems.
Online Marketing Blog conducted the survey, which revealed that 36 per cent of its readers who are involved in online marketing strategies are planning to use SEO more than anything else in the next three months.
It beat blogging and pay-per-click (PPC) to take the top spot. Blogging received 33 per cent of the vote whereas third-place PPC got 26 per cent.
Commenting on the results, Lee Odden said that he was not surprised by the top three but said that he would not have guessed they would be in the order they were.
He stated: "SEO has achieved a comfort level for most marketers. Contrary to some mainstream media characterisations, search engine optimisation is a high impact, high value tactic for reaching customers online."
These results conflict with a recent study by SLI Systems which found that SEO, site search and email marketing were the top three tools for ecommerce sites.
In the Online Marketing Blog, email marketing only ranked in third.
