'Simple is best for SEO'
15/10/2008
Experts in search engine optimisation (SEO) have stated that simple SEO strategies may be the best to adopt.
According to Bryan Howe, founder and chief executive officer of Masterplans.com, ensuring that basic steps, such as using popular keywords in the landing page's URL, could be highly effective, reports DMNews.
He cites the example of a company called MP:Creative which has recently shot to number one in the Yahoo! rankings.
This company researched popular keywords and found that "Portland", "Oregon", "marketing" and "advertising" were the most searched terms.
It subsequently purchased portlandoregonmarketing.com and portlandoregonadvertising.com and then filled the pages with keyword rich content.
Mr Howe stated: "SEO marketers and business owners regularly overlook [
] the simplest approach. This is a great opportunity for a smaller business to elbow in on the big guys."
In related news, the success of an SEO program should be measured by looking at organic search traffic rather than a ranking report, according to Mark Jackson at SearchEngineWatch.com.
