Firms 'should have press release page'
14/10/2008
Companies have been reminded by experts in the sector to ensure that they set up a permanent press release page optimised for search engine optimisation (SEO).
According to Cher Murphy PR, a public relations firm, businesses should utilise SEO keywords relevant to the company, the service offers and the geographical location, reports bMighty.com.
Other pieces of advice given by the firm include a recommendation that a link back to the original release on the company's site should be included.
In addition, it says that care should be taken over the placement and the number of keywords used.
Overuse can result in search engines penalising the document or preventing it from making grammatical sense.
Ms Murphy commented: "Having an online press section is an effective way to bring traffic to the site."
In related news, experts at servicewrap.net have advised firms and ecommerce sites to ensure that they have a strong online presence to survive the credit crunch.
This, they say, can be achieved in part by employing effective SEO and through "good value advertising".
