Social networking site MySpace has just announced that it is launching the public beta of MyAds.

The do-it-yourself advertising platform is being hailed by MySpace as a way for those involved in online advertising and search marketing to target users based upon their profiles, reports MarketingPilgrim.com.

Jeff Berman, president of sales and marketing for MySpace, commented: "MySpace MyAds is a direct marketer’s dream - providing entrepreneurs with the most accessible, personalised, and targeted advertising toolkit in the market."

He added that firms are now able to get better ROI as soon as possible and noted that in today’s economy, this is an essential option.

Mr Berman stated that with this new system, the company was "blowing the lid off display advertising solutions", saying that they would be particularly useful for small and medium businesses.

Recent figures from the Internet Advertising Bureau revealed that spending on online advertising has grown rapidly during the current economic crisis and looks set to continue this trend in the next few months and years.
