Internet advertising up in the US
09/10/2008
Recent figures have revealed that revenue from internet advertising in the US is currently on the increase.
A study by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found that in the first six months of 2008, there was a 15.2 per cent increase in revenue compared with the same time the year before.
Search marketing revenues totalled almost $5.1 billion (£3 billion), which is $1 billion more than the same period 12 months earlier.
Randall Rothenberg, president and chief executive officer of the IAB, commented: "Interactive advertising continues to demonstrate year over year growth as marketers and consumers increase their embrace of digital media."
David Silverman of PwC noted that despite businesses and ecommerce sites potentially facing problems in the current economic climate, the online advertising industry still seems to going strong.
Despite this, the Financial Times reports that the spending on online advertising "fell sharply" just before the financial crisis of recent weeks.
