Up-to-date web design 'can boost e-commerce'
06/10/2008
E-commerce sites looking to increase the number of buyers compared to browsers may wish to consider looking at their storefront web design, according to experts.
Thomas Harpointer, chief executive officer of AIS Media, stated in an article on E-commerce.com that an outdated web page may discourage buyers from purchasing on the site.
He says that consumer confidence is key in online shopping and while a company may get many people browsing, converting these to sales is crucial to maintaining the business.
Mr Harpointer considers the website to be an extension of the firm itself and a "point of interaction" with the clients.
Consequently, he recommends hiring a professional web design firm to ensure that the look is modern and appropriate.
