New Google browser declines in popularity
06/10/2008
The use of Google's new internet browser Chrome has declined in the last week, news which may be of interest to those involved in search engine optimisation (SEO).
Recent reports from Net Applications, a website tools provider, showed that only 0.77 per cent of visits to the sites it tracks came via Chrome, down from 0.85 per cent the previous week.
It is thought that this is because a number of people downloaded Chrome to test out the new software, but have since then reverted back to their original browsers.
Experts at e-consultancy.com commented: "For all of the hype, Chrome has no non-negligible competitive edge over Internet Explorer and Firefox as far as mainstream consumers are concerned."0
Consequently, unless Google up the marketing and features offered by Chrome, most searches for services online will still be done through Internet Explorer and Firefox.
