Yahoo attempts to set the record straight

Yahoo has stepped up its defence of its proposed advertising deal with Google by launching a website giving details of the arrangement.

Antitrust regulators in the US are currently examining the terms of the agreement, amid suggestions it could restrict choice and force up prices for advertisers.

However, Yahoo has insisted that working with Google will help it to develop a stronger presence in the online advertising sector, which it claimed should benefit the industry.

In a bid to dispel what it regards as misinformation about the deal, which would see some Google Adsense adverts appearing in Yahoo search results, the company has now launched the Yahoo-Google Agreement website.

A Yahoo Search Marketing blog post on the issue suggested that people would have heard about the deal from "your co-workers, your competitors, your daily blog, and - who knows? - maybe even your taxi driver", and that it was time to set the record straight.

Meanwhile, Google has enhanced its Blog Search service so that it now offers similar functionality to Google News.ADNFCR-1679-ID-18807125-ADNFCR
