Yahoo! offering personalised home page

18/09/2008

Yahoo! has started to offer its users a new revamped home page with a number of features that the company hopes will make it more personalised for each user, news which may be of interest to those involved in search engine optimisation or web design.

Among the features available on the site will be a dashboard on the left-hand side of the screen, which notifies the user on the activity of a range of applications, reports CNetNews.com.

It is thought that future options that will be made available to Yahoo! users will include web-applications chosen by the individual surfer.

Programmes already supported include Yahoo! Mail, AOL and Gmail. Notification can be sent of any comments posted on photos on Flickr, important events on the calendar and bids on selected items on eBay.

Figures released by comScore suggest that approximately 314 million people used the site in July.

In related news, Google is currently in talks with Yahoo! over an advertising deal which some have suggested may lead to a price-hike for keywords, reports eweek.com.
