Study: Most web users happy with search engine results
04/09/2008
New research has revealed that three-quarters of web users are always able to find the websites they want on the first page of search engine results.
Conducted by Canadian firm Ipsos Reid, the survey indicated that businesses are getting better at deploying effective search engine optimisation strategies.
Two-thirds of respondents said they believed they always saw objective search results, according to the poll.
The paid search medium failed to generate as much satisfaction among Canadian web users, however, with 62 per cent stating that they were sceptical of pay-per-click ads.
However, Mark Laver of Ipsos Reid said: "The measures search engines have taken to place advertisements away from regular search results is proving to be very pleasing for the online community and may change opinions of paid search advertising in the coming years."
A recent E-consultancy report suggested that spending on search optimisation will rise to £330 million in the UK this year.
