SEO 'a good place to start for online marketing'

Businesses starting out in the world of internet marketing may do well to focus on search engine optimisation (SEO) first, an expert has recommended.
According to E-consultancy editor-in-chief Chris Lake, companies with limited marketing budgets may benefit from looking at organic SEO first, before moving on to other media such as video clips and blogging.
The latter forms of marketing can provide a significant boost to a firm's online profile if they become popular on social media websites such as Yahoo! Buzz, Digg and YouTube, he remarked.
Mr Lake added: "Read up on how to make your site search engine-friendly and, if you can afford it, look at employing a search agency or a search expert in-house."
According to research carried out by the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organisation earlier this year, a growing number of search marketing specialists are considering using video in their promotional campaigns.
