'Boost SEO with keyword-focused URLs'
02/09/2008
When it comes to setting up a new site, it may be useful for businesses hoping for high search engine rankings to incorporate keywords into their new URLs.
This is according to Net4Now, which stated that while using the company name or a more generic term may be useful for branding purposes, those looking to give search engine optimisation (SEO) a boost would do well to consider using keywords as website addresses.
Marketing executives may want to think about getting the name of their main products or services into their URLs, for example, the website noted.
"You could then use specific keyword software to see how popular your potential domain names are to customers using search engines," it added.
According to Patrick Oak of E-consultancy, websites hosted on Apache servers could make use of the .htaccess file to create more SEO-friendly URLs for dynamic pages.
