The online medium is vital to small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the business-to-business arena, according to SmartCompany.com.au.
Businesses should ensure they have a "persuasive and professional" website design to attract as many potential customers as possible to their products and services, the news source stated.
Phil Hare of asset management software company SmartPath told the website that the internet can do much for companies with small marketing budgets and stressed the importance of presenting a prominent value proposition on the homepage.
Furthermore, search engine optimisation is a must to help "pre-qualified" clients find that company's website first, he noted.
Mr Hare also highlighted the need for content that is both relevant and informative to target those decision-makers who may already be tired of sales techniques used by other firms.
According to Chris Silver Smith of Search Engine Land, those looking to improve their local business website's search engine rankings should review their homepage title tags so that they include the name of the organisation, the type of products or services offered and its location.
