Companies urged to adopt pro-SEO culture

Creating a pro-search engine optimisation (SEO) culture within a company can help to boost the success of internet marketing campaigns, it has been suggested.
Writing for Search Engine Land, SEO strategist Jessica Bowman said companies should not rely solely on a talented SEO teams to implement successful search optimisation programmes.
"They happen because the entire company incorporates SEO into their portion of a given project, and everyone recognises when it's time to bring in the SEO to discussions," she stated.
Training all staff in SEO to make sure they understand how their actions can affect campaigns and appointing an SEO champion in each department can help to foster a pro-SEO philosophy, she claimed.
She also advocated the creation of an SEO knowledge centre on the company's intranet system, which gives clear information about search optimisation best practice as well as tutorials and quick reference guides.
According to Kellen Interactive, studies show that 85 per cent of web users rely on search engines to find the websites they require.
