Expert offers rebranding web design tips

Businesses looking to rebrand themselves through website design have been offered advice on the best way to do so by one communications expert.

Writing in a column for Real Business, Alistair Turner of Aspectus PR said that the web should always be the first port of call when overhauling a corporate identity.

He advised businesses to think carefully about their new name, whether it is available as a domain and if it is easy enough to remember for people searching for the company on the web.

When it comes to the actual website, it is best to consider what the purpose of the site is first and then move on to considerations such as testing, feedback and visual appearance, Mr Turner stated.

"Use technology, not gimmicks, as they're often expensive and date quickly, and make sure the site is optimised for search engines," he added.

Getting input from everyone in the company can also be a good way of generating enthusiasm for the project, Mr Turner explained.

According to the Top Hosting Center, those considering changing their domain name should first check whether the new domain has previously been banned from search engines and make sure to direct the old address to the new URL.ADNFCR-1679-ID-18732013-ADNFCR
