British consumers are using the web for longer than they were in 2002, a new study by communications industry regulator Ofcom has revealed.
The study showed that Britons spent 24 minutes a day online on average last year, showing a significant increase from six minutes a day as recorded in 2002, web design professionals may be interested to read.
Ofcom also published statistics relating to the internet marketing industry, indicating that businesses increased their online advertising spending by almost 40 per cent in 2007 to reach a total of £2.8 billion.
"Our devotion to watching, listening and staying in touch wherever and whenever we want shows no sign of diminishing," commented Peter Phillips, Ofcom partner for strategy and market development.
Earlier this year, research firm IDC published a report suggesting that three in ten of the global population will regularly access the internet by 2012.
