Google expanded its share of the UK search market to account for more than three-quarters of all queries in June, a new comScore report has revealed.
According to the figures, Google was responsible for 75.3 per cent of all searches made in the UK during the month, compared with 74.7 per cent in May - a trend that may suggest search optimisation executives would do well to focus on Google in their operations.
Online auction site eBay took second place with a 5.5 per cent share of the market, followed by Yahoo! (4.3 per cent) and Microsoft (3.4 per cent).
"AOL LLC's acquisition of UK social networking property Bebo.com expanded its share of search queries to 2.3 per cent, edging Facebook.com (2.2 per cent) into sixth place," comScore said in a statement released today (August 5th).
The company also revealed that a total of 3.9 billion online searches were made by UK web users in June, equating to an average of 124 queries per searcher.
Last month, comScore released statistics revealing that Google-owned sites were the most popular online destination for British internet users during the month of June.
