Vouchers key to search engine success?

Retailers looking to improve their search optimisation strategies may want to take heed of new US research suggesting that online vouchers result in more clicks.
Carried out by Simmons/Experian Research and Coupons Inc, the study revealed that vouchers, coupons and discounts are becoming increasingly popular among consumers looking to the web for ways in which they can save money.
About 36 million Americans have used the internet to search for coupons this year, up from ten million in 2005, according to the research.
Furthermore, 64 per cent of consumers said they would be more likely to click on a search engine listing if they knew there was a coupon available on the website in question - indicating that search optimisation efforts may pay off if they focus on such discounts.
"A new generation of shoppers is discovering coupons on the web and printing coupons is becoming a regular part of a consumer's shopping routine," commented Steven Boal, chief executive of Coupons Inc.
A recent study by Nielsen Online found that money-saving websites such as MyVoucherCodes are becoming increasingly popular among UK internet users.
