UK search queries dominated by entertainment terms
29/07/2008
Last week saw the fastest moving online search queries consist mostly of terms related to entertainment.
This is according to new figures from Hitwise, with the company's UK research director Robin Goad revealing that 'now 70' - relating to the popular music compilation - was the biggest gaining search term in the seven days to July 26th.
Other common terms included those linked to the recent release of The Dark Knight, the new Batman film. Such queries included 'christian bale', 'heath ledger', 'batman' and 'dark knight' - keywords which may be of interest to those managing search engine optimisation for movie sites.
Mr Goad said: "The huge amount of press coverage surrounding the movie has certainly benefited cinemas and other film industry websites.
"As you can see from the chart below, last week UK internet traffic to our entertainment movies category reached its highest level this year."
Other statistics released recently by Hitwise showed that Facebook is the most popular social networking site in the UK, while MySpace is the market leader in the US.
