Google's share of UK search market rising

Google managed to increase its reach in the UK search market by ten per cent last month, search engine optimisation professionals may like to note.
This is according to new figures from Hitwise, which show that the search giant accounted for 87 per cent of all online queries made via search engines in the UK during month.
Google also upped its share in the US market, coming close to reaching 70 per cent of the online search audience in the country last month.
Back in the UK, Yahoo! managed a market share of four per cent, while MSN was just behind with 3.72 per cent. Ask.com, meanwhile, claimed 3.14 per cent of the market.
Recent Nielsen Online research indicated that Google was the most popular online brand for American internet users last month, with the likes of Yahoo!, MSN/Windows Live, Microsoft and the AOL Media Network trailing in the search engine's wake.
