Search engine optimisation (SEO) strategies should take into account the website elements that indexing spiders are likely to look at, it has been advised.

Entrepreneur Dawn Gibbins has recommended that companies look at what spiders from Google and Yahoo!, among other search engines, examine while on a website, such as content relevance, keywords and inbound links, realbusiness.co.uk reports.

She suggested that firms buy a domain name that incorporates some of the keywords most likely to be used by consumers searching for the products and services they offer and that they create relevant, targeted text to go on the site.

Updating the content on a regularly basis, such as through a news section, can be a key way of grabbing the attention of search engine spiders, while making good use of keywords and key phrases, as well as ensuring that other sites link back to the website in question, can also help, Ms Gibbins remarked.

According to Google's Ambroise Fensterbank, regularly adding "original and compelling content" can help to encourage Google spiders to crawl the site more frequently.ADNFCR-1679-ID-18685253-ADNFCR
