Marketing, IT execs 'need to collaborate on web design'

Marketing and IT departments need to do more to share information when developing and launching a new website.
This is the conclusion drawn by SDL Tridion following a study it commissioned from Coleman Parkes Research, which found that 50 per cent of marketing communications (marcomms) managers do not get the feel and look they desire for websites due to technical constraints.
Marcomms and IT professionals were discovered to be in disagreement over who has final responsibility for new websites, while nearly a third of marketing executives complained of campaign delays while waiting for a new site to be launched.
"This tug-of-war over the website needs to end. Businesses must demand clarity on who has responsibility for all areas of the website in order for web comms to progress," remarked Erik Aeyelts Averink, president of SDL Tridion.
Meanwhile, other SDL Tridion research has recently revealed that consumers most dislike website features such as pop-up windows, being forced to provide personal data, overlong intros and the loss of information after going back a page.
