SEO success drives rivals to desperate measures

A new report has suggested that businesses should be aware of the threat of search engine saboteurs.

Search engine optimisation has become so vital that competing companies may be capable of sabotaging rivals' websites to lower search engine results, according to Search Engine Roundtable.

Business Feet's expert blogger Receptional Andy said that sabotage can occur in a number of ways.

"That can be by directly modifying the site (through legitimate mechanisms to do so, or by finding vulnerabilities and exploiting them) and by modifying or setting up external references to a site," he said.

Companies are clearly recognising that search engine rankings play a key role in the success of a business and are worried about their rivals gaining an advantage on them.

One way to stay ahead of the competition would be to invest in SEO to ensure your business ranks as high as possible.ADNFCR-1679-ID-18660693-ADNFCR
