Web design - MySpace gets makeover
17/06/2008
Social networking site MySpace.com is to have its biggest ever makeover after it was revealed Facebook had caught up in terms of users.
According to Comscore, both sites now attract around 115 million unique users per month and MySpace is looking to re-establish its dominance.
After a year of development, it is ready to roll out the changes to make the website more user-centric.
The main feature will be a new simplified editor for people less technically skilled in code.
Vice president Rebekah Horne said it's about catering to more people.
"You've two kinds of users (those) who love getting in there and coding and creating really complex profiles," she said.
"Then you've also got people obviously that don't have as much time to spend on their profiles or just want to come in and start connecting with other people they just want to set something up really quickly."
Other changes involve the addition of a new navigation bar, music and MySpaceTV.
MySpace search will also be upgraded to filter by location, age, gender and content.
