SEO boosts burgeoning online ad market

New research suggests that search engine optimisation companies are playing their part in the success of the burgeoning online advertising market.

The figures from the Advertising Association showed that UK online marketing has grown by almost forty per cent (39.5 per cent) in the last year leaving other types of marketing lagging behind as marketers recognise the high returns on investment offered by the web.

Search engine optimisation may well be playing a big roll in the success of online advertising with marketers seeing the benefits of investing in improving their search ranking.

Total advertising spend in 2007 totalled £19.4 billion, with around £7.5 billion of that figure attributed to online marketing.

Direct marketing was only responsible for 11.2 per cent, according to the study - a drop of 6.5 per cent compared to 2006.
