Nintendo accused of underhand pants publicity stunt

11/06/2008

Nintendo has been accused of planting a video on YouTube which shows a woman playing Wii Fit in her knickers.

The clip, allegedly shot by the woman's partner, marketing executive Giovanny Gutierrez, shows her 'hula-hooping' from behind and is entitled "Why every guy should buy their girlfriend a Wii Fit".

It has been viewed over two million times since it was first posted two weeks ago but the fact that Mr Gutierrez works in marketing has aroused suspicion.

Mr Gutierrez allegedly filmed and posted the clip without his girlfriend, 25-year-old Lauren Bernat's knowledge.

The allegations come only two weeks after new legislation came into place banning companies from planting endorsements which appear to be from random members of the public.

Companies found guilty of this type of crime can now be hit with an unlimited fine with employees risking jail time.

A spoof clip has appeared on YouTube of a man playing the game with his T-shirt tucked into his pants.

Nintendo deny all knowledge of the making and uploading of the clip.
